The following day we drove about 12 hours, and arrived in Abbotsford, BC around 2100. Overall it was a great drive! The Eastern Sierras are just beautiful, as are the acres of trees along the interstate 5 in Oregon. We spent the weekend on Thetis Island, one of the Gulf Islands off the coast of Vancouver Island. Every three years, members of the extensive Peters family travel from all over Canada and the US to get together for a family reunion! It is always spectacular. Jack was the youngest at 4 months, and Opi (Peter Peters, my dad's dad, and yes that’s his real name) was the oldest at 95. This was the first time that Derek was able to go! I have so many cousins that it scares most outsiders, but he fit in well.
The most meaningful part of the weekend for Derek & I was the dedication of Jack to the Lord. Since I was pregnant, I wanted more than anything for Opi to hold Jack and pray for him. Opi is so special to me, as he has lived the most incredible life of faith. He is an amazing example of what it means to love Jesus and live the Christian life. Because of this, he and Omi passed on their love and dedication for God to their quiver full of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. We desire to pass on the same faith to our own children. What a blessed reunion it was!
Here are some pictures from our trip:

The Peters! (note: this is an understatement of how many Peters there really are because many were unable to make it to the reunion)
