As the wife of a firefighter, I look forward to Derek's 4 and 6 days. To the lay person, these are the 4 and 6 day blocks of time off that Derek has in between his go-arounds (24 hrs on, 24 hours off, cycled four times). Although we did celebrate our third wedding anniversary (yay!), I can't say we did anything that a passerbyer would find particularly exciting, but overall it was a great break for Derek, thoroughly enjoyed by the three of us. And in no particular order, the following occurred on said 4 day.
We...
1. Sort of slept in (thanks Jack!)
2. Wrangled a large rat out of Hunter's mouth
3. Baked 'sugar' cookies (albeit, they looked like cookies and tasted sugary, they were not successfully executed sugar cookies)
4. Shoveled lots of dirt
5. Ate loads of sushi, followed by gallons of melted chocolate fondue heaven
6. Laughed extensively with the cutest baby on the block
7. Made & consumed two large pots of soup (chicken dumpling & chicken chorizo)
8. Enjoyed a thunderous storm with a side order of marble sized hail! (Sorry garden!)
It's a lot of little things that make life grand.
